There is one room in the beta that goes completely unused.Īn unused room that resembles the Crystal Peaks can be found in the files of the beta. The final game redesigns the room he was in and moves the Vengefly King to Greenpath. The Vengefly King fights is in the Forgotten Crossroads in the beta. The entrance to the room is open in the beta (unlike the final game where a Husk Guard needs to break it.) The room is very unfinished, and nothing can be found in it. The room where Glowing Womb can be found can not be entered without mods. The tunnel next to the tram can be explored using mods. The tram to the Resting Grounds exists, but cannot be entered. The spike challenge near Brooding Mawlek does not exist, and a grub was replaced by a Soul Totem in the final game. The secret room in the well leading to Dirtmouth is missing.
There is a strange area in the room that can be walked through, as it has no hitbox. Oddly, the room resembles the passage to Fog Canyon, as it has bubbles and not the shrooms that appear here in the final game. The Fungal Wastes can not be entered as the level leads nowhere. The passage to the Fungal Wastes exists, but can only be entered by using noclip with mods. In the final game, the acid lake is not entered, and the entrance is to the right. Interestingly, the passage appears to be a swimming section, and is entered through the acid lake. The bubbles are white instead of their pinkish yellow color in the final game. Fog Canyon can not be entered as the level leads nowhere. The passage to Fog Canyon exists, but can only be entered using mods. The crystals are also a dull white compared to their pink color in the final game. The passage to Crystal Peak exists near Myla, but the room can not be exited as the exit leads nowhere. Additionally, the entrance does not glow purple. There is no bench outside of Salubra’s shop, and it can not be entered. The crystals are white, compared to their pink color in the final game. The lift near Myla leading to Crystal Peak is missing. This room appears to have been replaced in the final version, as the bottom of the elevator is a different room in the final game. The lever is nonfunctional, and attempting to leave soft-locks the game. The bottom of the City of Tears lift exists, and can be explored using mods. This only happens in the final game once the Crossroads has become infected. The bench at the Hot Spring is missing, and the room is more purple. The Ancestral Mound is referred to as the Shrine of Souls. The chest containing Fury of the Fallen in the release version contains 50 Geo in the beta.Ī spike-filled pit near the player's starting position was made empty upon release. The stag station’s door automatically opens once using the stag to travel to Dirtmouth, and there is no lever. Iselda’s shop has a different sign compared to the release version, and the sign has moved slightly.Ĭonfessor Jiji/Steel Soul Jinn’s cave is missing entirely, and some rocks are in its place. The crystals are entirely missing, the elevator mechanism is wider, and there is an extra lantern on the wood beams. The entrance to Crystal Peaks exists, but cannot be entered as the level leads nowhere. As it is a demo, many rooms are not entirely finished. The demo version of Hollow Knight only contains Dirtmouth, King’s Pass, and the Forgotten Crossroads.
The highest priority items are the Lumafly Lantern (which will open up a number of new areas to explore), the Gathering Swarm charm (which automatically gathers all Geo dropped by enemies, including those dropped long distances, or Geo which falls in acid or on spikes), and the Simple Key (which unlocks either a Shadow retrieval service on the far right side of Dirtmouth, or a large area beneath the City of Tears). This article uses material from the “ Hollow Knight Beta” article on the Hollow Knight wiki at Fandom and is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License. Go inside and you’ll find Sly’s offerings, which include the Gathering Swarm and Stalwart Shell charms, Mask Shards, Vessel Fragments, a Simple Key, the Lumafly Lantern, and a Rancid Egg.
Return to the Forgotten Crossroads Stagway and take the Stag back to Dirtmouth and you’ll find Sly’s shop to the left of the village Bench. Listen to him until he snaps out of his daze and he’ll head back to Dirtmouth and open his shop. Duck inside and you’ll find a small bug with glowing orange eyes. After dispatching the Gruz Mother, continue down the corridor to the right, then drop down and head left.
